Our Electoral Services team has started the annual canvass for the electoral register.

The canvass is an important part of the work of getting everyone in ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ who is eligible to vote included on the register.
The rules for the canvass have changed quite a lot this year, meaning that residents might be contacted at different times over the coming months and in different ways, including by email, text, post, telephone and personal visit.

Some of these contacts will need a response, and where no response is received the law requires us to send reminders including personal visits to properties.

We are urging all residents to keep an eye out for their voter registration details to ensure they can vote in next year’s elections.

You can register to vote if you are one of the following:

  • a British citizen
  • an Irish or EU citizen living in the UK
  • a Commonwealth citizen who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission
  • a citizen of another country living in Wales who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need permission

You only need to register once, unless you change your address, name or nationality. To register to vote, all you need is your National Insurance Number and five minutes of your time. Visit
