ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ Borough Council’s Play Service is offering community support and structured play sessions over the summer.
The town’s Adventure Playgrounds will be closed for open access but the Play Service, along with ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ Town Community Foundation and Sussex Cricket Foundation, are offering fun-packed activity sessions at Cherry Lane and Millpond Adventure Playgrounds.
Sessions will run from Monday to Friday throughout August:
- Week 1 (3 August) – Cherry Lane
- Week 2 (10 August) – Millpond
- Week 3 (17 August) – Cherry Lane
- Week 4 (24 August) – Millpond
Suitable for children aged 5-12 years, sessions will run from 10.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 4.30pm and include a variety of activities ranging from football, multi skills, cricket, play and arts and crafts. Each session costs £1 per child, per session.
Over the summer, Play Service staff will also be out in the community, supporting residents to remain safe during the pandemic by offering advice, guidance and support.
Small groups of staff will be visible across community areas and places of high footfall, delivering proactive community engagement in informal settings, providing a range of practical advice to stay safe and at the same time, remind individuals of the need to focus on their own health and wellbeing.
While we may not be able to offer our normal service this summer, the council is committed to providing fun, interactive sessions that our young residents will benefit from, as well as providing an outreach service that will help empower residents to take charge of their mental and physical wellbeing in a safe and informal way.
