About the role

We are seeking a senior manager to oversee our housing and wider corporate response to the resettlement of people of Chagossian descent granted British citizenship and now arriving in the country seeking our help in settling in and around ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾. The postholder is also responsible for assisting former asylum seekers granted leave to remain in the same manner.

A special responsibility allowance up to £4,545 per annum is payable for the 18 month duration of this contract.

You will be responsible for a unified approach which ensures that our statutory duties are fully met and an effective partnership approach with other statutory agencies and the voluntary sector is in place to meet wider needs. The tactical work will involve managing and co-ordinating the workflow associated with the assessment and processing of people presenting to us for assistance with housing, working with and through a team in the effective deployment of available resources including procurement of temporary accommodation and private sector housing options to meet needs.

You will also lead on coordinating an emergency planning response in the event of mass arrivals from flights coming into Gatwick airport and a strategic approach to the development of quality, cost effective temporary accommodation solutions. Comprehensive knowledge of homelessness legislation, a collaborative leadership style and a flair for generating and implementing creative solutions are key requirements for this role.

You will work alongside our Housing Options Manager who manages our core homelessness operation and you will report to the Head of Strategic Housing.

The post is offered on an 18-month fixed term contract basis which may be extended depending on the outcome of a review of funding and wider resources.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to showcase their skills and gain valuable career development experience.

We offer a first-class working environment within our Grade A office building in the centre of ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ and the opportunity for hybrid working, subject to the needs of the service. The role may involve occasional out of hours working and you may be required to change plans to work remotely, attending the Town Hall and other locations at short notice should circumstances require this.

ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ is an exciting place to work with an open, friendly, and welcoming culture. We are passionate about ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ and work together to achieve the best outcomes for our residents, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.
