About the role

As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you will provide an efficient and effective service to deliver high quality civil enforcement action throughout the borough.

This includes measures to ensure the free movement of traffic as well as ensuring compliance both on street and in council car parks. We endeavour to maximise compliance of our parking restrictions through education and enforcement, working in conjunction with West Sussex County Council. By providing local residents, visitors and businesses clear and effective parking solutions, you will help make sure ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ is a great place to live and work.

You will operate as an individual and with other team members, acting as a council ambassador, offering help and guidance to the public over a range of topics. Your day will be spent mostly outside, in all weathers, walking long distances, so please consider this before you apply.

You will be dealing with members of the public face to face in sometimes difficult situations, so customer service and excellent communication skills are key. Basic computer skills are also required.

We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.

Additional information

You will be required to work an average of 37 hours per week. Working hours will be on a rota basis and include regular weekend and bank holiday working so you will need to be flexible.

Post holder will be excluded from the Flexible Working Hours Scheme.

A 14% enhancement on the basic rate of pay (excluding ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ Allowance) will be paid for Saturdays and Sundays worked.

Post holder will be required to work during our Christmas closure period (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day), for which time off in lieu will be given.

Full uniform and training will be provided.

The post holder must have a current UK manual driving licence and be able to use suitable alternative methods of transport throughout the borough.

The post holder will be required to use a body worn video camera in line with our policies.

Lone working will be a requirement of this role.

Satisfactory clearance of a Standard Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) will be a condition of employment.

Employee benefits

We offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.

Our way of working

Our shared values and behaviours reflect the special nature of our council. We encourage all colleagues to put them into practice, whatever job they do. Take a look to see if we are the perfect match.

Safer recruitment

ºÚÁÏÍøÕ¾ Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.
